Bank of Ireland recently hosted a 50th birthday celebration in its Coolock branch to mark a half century of proudly serving the local community.

The event, held on 30 May, was attended by long-standing customers, current and former Bank of Ireland branch colleagues, as well as special guests in the form of the Coolock Girl Guides. It marked a day of recognition for Bank of Ireland’s presence in Coolock since the branch first opened in 1975.

A host of Coolock branch customers shared stories of how they navigated their different life stages with Bank of Ireland’s support, from opening student accounts to making mortgage applications, saving for their children’s education or even ensuring they had the right plans in place to ensure they could sustain and enjoy a comfortable retirement.

The Coolock Girl Guides were also celebrating 50 years as part of the Coolock community and were welcomed into the branch to add another layer of symbolism to the day, with over 250 good bags distributed to attendees. Branch staff adopted a 1970s theme, with music from the era entertaining guests, and 1970s memorabilia displayed as branch colleagues sported 1970s style and fashion!

Commenting on the 50th birthday celebrations, Gillian Gorman, Senior Bank Manager Coolock, Bank of Ireland said: “I was delighted to welcome so many guests into the Coolock branch to mark 50 years of Bank of Ireland proudly serving the local community. The event was symbolic of the deep roots we have established in Coolock over the past half-century, with a special visit from the Coolock Girl Guides making the day even more special. Bank of Ireland’s commitment to serving its customers remains at the heart of what we do, and everyone working in the Coolock branch is looking forward to further supporting our customers in the years ahead.”
